# Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds — Draft

**Version:** `draft-2026-10-13-v1` · **Merchant of record:** `[LEGAL ENTITY / PAYMENT PROVIDER, BY RAIL]`

## Before purchase

The checkout must show plan name, included benefits, original and sale price when used, final payable amount, currency, tax treatment, validity, start and end/renewal behavior, device limit, ad entitlement, payment provider, and cancellation/refund route before authorization. Regional prices must be explicitly configured and reconciled to the provider's displayed price; no hidden currency conversion or surprise fee.

## Payment and activation

The backend activates benefits only after server-side provider verification. A redirect, screenshot, client callback, or user-supplied transaction status is not proof of payment. Duplicate notifications must not create duplicate entitlements. Failed, reversed, disputed, or refunded payments may change entitlement according to the checkout disclosure and local law.

## Renewals and cancellation

Automatic renewal may be used only where supported and clearly authorized. State the amount, frequency, renewal date, and cancellation method. Provide an accessible cancellation route at least as easy as enrollment where required. Store cancellation confirmation. App-store subscriptions are managed under the store's rules; direct payment plans use the disclosed platform route.

## Refunds and consumer rights

The final policy must specify the process and response time, but cannot remove mandatory statutory withdrawal, cooling-off, refund, or digital-content rights. Refund eligibility may depend on consumption, local law, provider terms, payment rail, duplicate charge, technical failure, fraud, and statutory rights. Contact **[billing support URL/email]**. Do not promise a refund or deny one automatically without the required review.

## Current limitations

Only payment rails actually configured in production may be shown as available. Do not state that all UPI, Razorpay, Play Billing, or Apple IAP flows work until live verification is complete. Fee, tax, and settlement reporting must not be represented as finalized if provider reconciliation is pending.
