# Age Ratings and Child Safety — Draft

**Version:** `draft-2026-10-13-v1` · **Operator:** `[LEGAL ENTITY NAME]`

## Important current limitation

The platform has an `18+` content flag and catalog exclusion foundation, but its parental-controls page states that child profiles, age-rating enforcement, and PIN controls are not configured. A date-of-birth field or checkbox is not robust age assurance. Until a verified policy and technical enforcement are released, do not advertise the service as child-safe, COPPA-compliant, or age-verified.

## Ratings and labels

Every title offered in a rating-required market must receive a consistent local age classification and relevant content descriptors before access. The system must display the rating and descriptors before playback and enforce the classification in catalog, search, recommendations, direct links, APIs, downloads, embeds, and live playback. Ratings must be localized and reviewed against local classification rules; an `18+` label alone is not a global ratings regime.

## Children and accounts

The company must decide whether children may create accounts, whether a supervised experience will exist, and which age-assurance method is proportionate and lawful in each market. If a child-directed service or actual knowledge triggers parental-consent rules, implement verifiable consent and restrict collection to permitted purposes. Do not use behavioral ads to children where prohibited. Do not retain identity evidence longer than necessary.

## Creator responsibilities

Creators must provide accurate ratings/descriptors, identify synthetic/altered content where required, obtain guardian consent and releases for lawful participants, and never feature sexualized minors. We may apply a stricter rating or restrict a title pending review.

## Parent/guardian concerns

Contact **[child-safety email/form]**. The account and playback systems must expose approved controls before this draft is treated as effective: rating ceiling, PIN or equivalent authentication, restricted search/recommendations, purchase controls, and independent testing of direct media URLs and API responses.
